
Receiving fospropofol disodium
Dear Patient,
Your health care provider has prescribed fospropofol to sedate you for your procedure. The brand name of the drug is Lusedra.
How you'll receive fospropofol
You'll receive this drug by intravenous injection immediately before and during your procedure.
What to do if you miss a dose
You'll be given this drug by hospital staff to make sure you receive each dose at the appropriate time.
What to do about side effects
Notify your health care provider if you experience side effects to this medication.
Common: burning, tingling, stinging or itching in the perineal region.
Less common: difficulty breathing, headache, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting.
What you must know about other medications
You may be at risk for breathing and heart problems if you're taking certain pain medications or sedatives while receiving this drug. Tell your health care provider about all medications you're taking.
Special directions
- Report any side effects to your health care provider immediately.
Keep in mind
- It isn't known how this drug affects a breast-fed baby. Tell your health care provider if you're breast-feeding.
- It isn't known whether this drug affects an unborn baby. Tell your health care provider if you think you might be pregnant.
